Reflexology
|
| The art of reflexology is recorded in several ancient civilizations. However, it did not become popular in the West until Dr. Fitzgerald introduced his 'zone theory'. His theory being that each foot is divided into 5 zones, each zone corresponds to different parts or organs in the body. Then in the 1930's Eunice Ingham (considered the mother of modern reflexology) further developed and studied zone therapy and produced a visual working map of the feet and their corresponding body parts - used by reflexologists today. She devised a massage routine with various techniques to aid the body to better health and alleviate many problematic symptoms. |
Eastern Foot Massage is very different to reflexology. The therapist uses a variety of differing massage skills to bring ease and comfort to tired, aching lower legs and feet. Most people find the overall experience very relaxing. |
The potential benefits of Reflexology are:
- Helps relaxation
- Creates a sense of
balance/harmony in the body
- Improves energy levels
- Relieves tension
- Relieves anxiety and stress
- Promotes a sense of general well-being
