Brief history and explanation of what Reiki is:
Reiki is a Japanese word meaning, 'Universal Life Force'. It refers to a system of energy rediscovered in Japan at the end of the nineteenth century by a Japanese Theologian, Dr. Mikao Usui (see photo above). Reiki was brought to the West about 60 years ago.
During a treatment the Reiki Energy is channeled through the therapist and out through their hands to the recipient, unblocking areas of negative energy. This allows the body's natural ability to heal itself to work more effectively. The treatment is gentle and very relaxing.
What can be experienced during a treatment:
People are individuals and so are their experiences. However, the overwhelming feeling for most, is a sense of calm, peace and relaxation. The Reiki Energy is channeled to where the person most needs it. It can work on the physical, mental/emotional and spiritual levels. Clients may feel the benefits of the Reiki Energy for days afterwards.
Is Reiki suitable for me?
- Most people are suitable for a Reiki treatment (including pregnant women). However, the therapist cannot treat a client with a contagious/infectious condition or under the influence of illegal drugs and/or alcohol.
- All ages are suitable for treatment from birth to 100+
